Message track as a result....you are charged track rental by the hour, somewhere in the ballpark of $12k/hr is what I have been told. This is second hand knowledge from a friend stationed in Germany who has gone twice this year.

To me that means it is all about the driver and their familiarity not only with the track, but the car's behavior on this particularly tricky and dangerous track. Who in their right mind is going to risk crashing someone else's prototype/pre-production golden goose AND rack up monster fees not to mention a possible trip to the hospital.

Makes sense now when you see times for cars that you would think could put up a hotter lap than what is "posted" on the internet.

Jeez not to mention lap times in different conditions, with different drivers, AND different track configurations. I have seen many videos of "laps" that don't even include the long straight, they start after it and pull off right at the entrance of the final straight.

Nurburgring times are pretty much like peak dyno #'s....so what?
